01 · Begin here
Jesus’ final charge is our present mission
Before Jesus returned to the Father, he did not leave only a message to remember. He left a mission to continue. The Great Commission is not an optional project for a few Christians; it is every believer’s assignment.
Prayer life, Word life, fellowship, and evangelism are like four wheels of the Christian life. We pray, learn Scripture, grow with other believers, and share our faith—then repeat that rhythm as we help others become disciples too.
Jesus did not leave us merely with a message to remember; he left us with a mission to continue.
02 · Go in his authority
Jesus’ authority is our confidence
Jesus began his command to go with a certainty: all authority in heaven and on earth belongs to him. Therefore, we can share the good news wherever he places us—at home, school, work, in our neighborhood, and throughout our community.
As culture grows darker, the light of the gospel must become more visible. Resistance, rejection, and opposition will come, but they cannot overcome Christ’s work. We do not go in our own strength or reputation; we go under his rule.
Success is not measured by an immediate positive response. When the message is rejected, get back up and continue. We faithfully share Jesus and entrust the result to God.
Where has God sent you today? What fear or opposition must you face under Jesus’ authority?
03 · Make disciples
Follow. Learn. Transform. Send. Repeat.
A disciple is a follower and learner whom Jesus continually transforms and then sends. First, we follow Christ. Second, we learn from his Word and through fellowship. Third, we let him remove our impurities and shape our character. Fourth, we go and help others follow him too.
Transformation is not instant. Like gold refined by fire or clay shaped by a potter, we are sanctified day by day. We need teachable hearts that are willing to change and ready to obey.
The goal of discipleship is not to resemble a pastor, celebrity, or admired leader. The goal is to become like Jesus in character, love, obedience, and mission.
Key verse · ESV40 “A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.”
Luke 6:40 · ESV
In the cycle of follow, learn, transform, and send, where are you right now? What is one next step Jesus is asking you to take?
04 · Baptize and teach obedience
Discipleship leads to obedience
Jesus commanded that his disciples be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Baptism publicly identifies us with Christ—with his death and resurrection and with walking in new life. It is an act of faith and a step of obedience.
He also commanded us to teach disciples to observe everything he said. Merely hearing or agreeing mentally is not enough. Living faith responds: listen, believe, obey, receive God’s blessing—then repeat.
The wise and foolish builders both heard. The difference was obedience. As disciples still being transformed, we need hearts ready to learn, change, and do what the Lord says.
Key verse · ESV4 “We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”
Romans 6:4 · ESV
Is there a command of God you have heard and believed but have not yet obeyed? What practical act of obedience will you take this week?
05 · Trust his presence
“I am with you always”
Jesus does not send us alone. He is with us to the end of the age. He walks with us, strengthens us, protects us, and guides us. His promise holds in joyful and difficult seasons.
Jesus did not promise the absence of trouble or rejection. He promised his presence. When someone refuses the message, remember that you are not the only one being rejected. Stay humble, get back up, and keep loving.
Key verse · ESV4 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.”
Psalm 23:4 · ESV
Where do you need to believe again that Jesus is with you? How will his presence change the way you share?
06 · Know your assignment
Love believers. Share God’s goodness with others.
With fellow believers, the assignment is clear: love one another. Love God with all your heart, soul, and strength, and let that vertical love become horizontal love through encouragement, fellowship, patience, and practical care for the church family.
With those who do not yet know Jesus, share God’s goodness and the call to repent. We have all sinned, yet in his mercy God gave Jesus for our forgiveness and salvation. The gospel is honest about sin and overflowing with the good news of grace.
Key verse · ESV38 “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off.”
Acts 2:38–39 · ESV
Which believer can you love and strengthen? Who does not yet know Jesus that you could tell about God’s goodness?
07 · Be an ordinary witness
Every one of us can be an instrument
After Pentecost, people from many nations heard the wonderful works of God in their own languages. Ordinary visitors, workers, traders, and believers carried the good news home. Before apostles reached some places, Christians were already there because unnamed witnesses had been faithful.
You do not need to be famous, ordained, or in public ministry to take part in the Great Commission. Young or old, woman or man, student or professional—every disciple who can speak can share. The Lord knows hidden witnesses and rewards their faithfulness.
Begin with people nearby: family, friends, classmates, coworkers, neighbors, and those you chat with. Instead of gossip or empty talk, bring good news, encouragement, and your testimony of what Jesus has done.
Key verse · ESV11 “We hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.” 12 And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?”
Acts 2:11–12 · ESV
What ordinary conversation or relationship could God use as a doorway for the gospel this week?
08 · Respond
Continue the mission Jesus left us
The Great Commission is not only a church program or special event. It is every disciple’s daily assignment. We go because Jesus has authority, make disciples because he loves the nations, and continue because he is always with us.
Choose one concrete response. Do not wait to become an expert. Share what you know Jesus has done, help someone take a step of obedience, and remain available to the Holy Spirit.

09 · Pray
A sent disciple’s prayer
Father, thank You for the privilege and opportunity to take part in Jesus’ final charge—to share the good news and make disciples of all nations.
Make us instruments of Your good news. Place on our hearts family, friends, neighbors, and people who need encouragement. Make us light and salt, especially to those who are lost and whose faith is growing weak.
Move through us. Let our lives display Your greatness, love, forgiveness, mercy, and goodness. Give us courage to go and hearts ready to obey. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Follow Jesus. Learn from him. Let him transform you. Go and make disciples. We are not alone—he is with us always.
